If your bank account was involved in any type of fraudulent transaction, then it is within the authority of said bank to freeze your account and prevent you from accessing the money in it.

The government can also request for your bank account to be frozen due to unpaid levy & taxes.

Order of court

The bank is also obligated to freeze your bank account if there is a court order for it to be frozen. This order can be from an organization like EFCC.

Unpaid loans

The bank can also freeze your account if you have debts with them, which you have not cleared. For example, if you take a loan from the bank and have not paid it back after the agreed duration.

How to unfreeze my bank account?

There are a few things you will need to know about how to unfreeze your bank account.

Visit the bank

You may need to visit the nearest bank branch and seek for an explanation why your account was blocked, and request for it to be unblocked.

If it is a minor issue, you will be required to provide some certain documents/requirements and your bank account will be unblocked.

Clear your debts

If your bank account was frozen because of unpaid debts/loans, then you will need to pay them, so your bank account can be unfrozen.
