However, there are times when you receive money to your bank account, but your account balance has not been updated with the amount.

Money credited but not showing in balance

If money was sent to you but it is not yet showing in your account balance, then there are a few reasons why:

Book balance

When money is sent to you, there are times when the money will be in your book balance but not in your available balance.

This is because although the bank has confirmed the transaction, it has not yet received the value and as such it has not been updated in your available balance.

You will have to wait for the bank to receive the value before your balance will be updated with the amount.

Network issues

Another reason why your account has not been updated with the amount credited might be as a result of network issues.

As we all know, from time to time Nigerian banks experience temporary network issues, this may cause your account balance not to be updated even though the money has been sent to you.

The only thing you can do in this case is to wait a few minutes/hours and check your account balance.

Fake alert

Another reason why your account has not been updated with the credited amount might be because you received a fake alert.

These days, there are many fraudulent individuals who have access to fake SMS alert app. They may send you a fake SMS alert that mimics the original bank SMS alert.

Because this transaction didn’t really happen, your bank account balance will obviously not be updated.

If your account has not been updated even though you have been credited, this may be the reason.

Outstanding debt

Another reason why your bank account balance may not have been updated with the amount credited to you, may be as a result of outstanding debt.

If you are owing the bank some amount of money, then they may collect it from any money that has been sent to your bank account.

Slow server

Another reason why your account balance has not yet been updated may be as a result of slow server. If the bank online banking/internet banking is having server issues, then your account balance might not be updated.
