Kuda bank is mobile first and they have no physical bank to carry out transactions. This means that all its transactions are carried out on mobile.

Kuda bank is registered and licensed by the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN) and their registration number RC796975. It is headed by CEO Babs Ogundeyi.

When you register a Kuda account, you will be placed in Tier 0 and limits will be placed on how much you can transfer and receive on your bank account.

In Order to remove these limits, you will need to upgrade your bank account by providing the required information.

Kuda account tiers

Kuda bank operates a three tier account system. When you register on the app, you will be placed in tier 0 and you can upgrade to tier 1 or Tier 3 by providing the required information.

1. Tier 0
2. Tier 1
3. Tier 3

Tier 0

An account that doesn’t have a confirmed BVN and a valid ID (a driver’s license, voter’s card, international passport, national ID card or NIN slip).

The Tier 0 account has a limit of 0 naira. You cannot transfer money from this account.

Tier 1

An account that has a confirmed BVN but doesn’t have a valid ID attached to it is a Tier 1 account. This account has a daily transaction limit of 50,000 naira and has a maximum balance of 300,000 naira.

Tier 3

An account that has both a confirmed BVN and a valid ID attached to it is on Tier 3. This account has a daily transaction limit of 1 million naira and has an unlimited account balance i.e. there is no limit to how much you can have in your account.

How to upgrade Kuda account?

If you want to upgrade your Kuda account, you will need to provide the required information. If you want to upgrade from Tier 0 to Tier 1, you will need to provide your bank verification number.

If you want to upgrade from Tier 1 to Tier 3, you will need to provide a valid ID card (a driver’s license, voter’s card, international passport, national ID card or NIN slip).

To upgrade your Kuda account, follow the below instructions:

1. Login to your Kuda account with the required user details
2. Click on MORE on the bottom right corner
3. Click on ACCOUNT LIMITS
4. Scroll down and click on Upgrade account
5. If you are upgrading to a Tier 1 account, then you will need to input your BVN, but if you are upgrading to a Tier 3 account, you will also need to upload a Valid ID
6. Follow the on-screen prompts and your account will be upgraded

OR

1. Login to your Kuda account
2. Click on Increase your limit
3. If you are upgrading to a Tier 1 account, then you will need to input your BVN, but if you are upgrading to a Tier 3 account, you will also need to upload a Valid ID
4. Follow the on-screen prompts and your account will be upgraded
