Opay is an e-payment platform that is owned by Opera software company (the developers of the popular Opera mini browser). On Opay, you can make payments for goods and services using just your mobile phone.

The Opay app is available for download on the android playstore, and you can then begin making payments, paying bills and receiving money on your mobile phone

What is SMS alert?

The SMS alert is a message sent to your mobile phone that is linked to your bank account after a transaction has occurred on your bank account.

This means that if money is debited from your bank account, you will receive a corresponding alert, and also if money is credited to your bank account, you will receive a corresponding alert.

All the major banks in Nigeria give you the option of turning on debit alerts, but there is usually a very small fee attached for you to enjoy this service.

How to receive alert on Opay?

Opay usually doesn’t send SMS alerts to its customers, but if you want to receive alerts when you transfer or receive money, you can subscribe to this service on the mobile app

Once you subscribe to this service, you will be able to receive SMS alerts on your mobile phone.

To turn on SMS, you will need to do the following:

1. Login to your Opay app with your user details
2. Click on ME
3. Click on the SETTINGS ICON on the top right hand corner
4. Click on SMS Alert Subscription
5. You will have to select the Subscription options that you want (Credit alerts, Card transaction alerts, transfer and withdraw alerts and other alerts)
6. Once you check the options you want, then you will click on SUBSCRIBE NOW and you will be subscribed to this service

NOTE: There is a charge of 3 naira per alert and also the SMS charges for the previous month will be automatically debited on the 3rd day of each new month at 10 AM.

Once you turn on SMS alert, you will receive an alert for every time there is a debit/credit transaction on your Opay account.
