After registering, you can then begin carrying out transactions on the mobile app, but you will need to verify your account in order to remove limits placed on your account.

About Opay?

Opay is a mobile banking wallet that allows you to carry out a range of actions like buying airtime, paying cable bills, depositing on betting account, paying electricity bills, transferring money to other banks and many more.

How to verify my Opay account?

When you register an account on Opay, there will usually be limits placed on it. An unverified Opay account has a daily transaction limit of 50,000 naira and a maximum balance of 300,000 naira i.e. you cannot transact with more than 50,000 naira daily and you cannot have more than 300,000 naira in your bank account.

To verify your Opay account, you will need to provide your BVN (bank verification number), a valid ID like voter’s card, drivers’ license, international passport etc.

Follow the below instructions to verify your Opay account:

  1. Login to your Opay account using your User details
  2. Click on ME on the bottom right corner
  3. Click on Upgrade to Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3
  4. You will need to provide the required like BVN, NIN, Voters’ card, driver’s license, international passport etc.

OR

  1. Login to your Opay account using your user details
  2. Click on ME on the bottom right corner
  3. Click on Account limits
  4. Click on Upgrade to Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3
  5. Provide the required information/documents and follow the on-screen prompts

Tier 1

Tier 1 has a daily transaction limit of 50,000 naira and a maximum balance of 300,000 naira i.e. you cannot transact with more than 50,000 naira daily and you cannot have more than 300,000 naira in your bank account.

If you want to remove this limit, you will need to upgrade your account by providing the required documents.

To upgrade to Tier 1, you will need your Bank verification number (BVN).

Tier 2

Tier 2 has a daily transaction limit of 200,000 naira and a maximum balance of 500,000 naira i.e. you cannot transact with more than 200,000 naira daily and you cannot have more than 500,000 naira in your bank account.

To upgrade to a Tier 2 account, you will need to provide a valid ID card like NIN, Voters’ card, International passport and driver’s license.

Tier 3

Tier 3 has a daily transaction limit of 5 million naira and an unlimited maximum balance i.e. you cannot transact with more than 5 million naira daily, but there is no limit to the amount of money you can have in your bank account at any time.

To upgrade to the Tier 3 account, you will need to provide a proof of address like Utility bill etc.

How to Open Opay account?

Follow the below instructions to create an Opay account:

  1. Go to the Google playstore or iOS app store
  2. Search for the Opay app
  3. Download the Opay app
  4. Install the App
  5. Launch the app
  6. Click on SIGN UP
  7. Input all the required details for Correctly to create an account.
