What is first bank token?
The first token is an application or device that generates code/token which is used to authorize transactions for online banking. This token acts as a security measure to prevent unauthorized transactions from occurring on your account.
Types of first bank token
We have two types of first bank token:
- Soft token
- Hard token
Soft token: The first bank soft token is an application that can easily be downloaded from the Google playstore, iOS app store and used to generate the security code.
Hard token: The hard token is a physical device that you can get from any first bank branch, and you can use to generate the security codes.
How to generate First bank token
Hard token
To get the first bank hard token, you will need to visit the nearest first bank branch and request for it. You will be given a token application form to fill.
After filling it correctly, if your request is granted, you will be given the physical device. You will need to sync it with your mobile app.
How to synchronize first bank token
- Download the first bank mobile app and install
- Register on the app by following the on-screen prompts
- Login to the app using your User ID and password
- Select “Account settings”
- Select “Token Synchronization”
- Press the button on your first bank token device, immediately a code will appear on the screen
- Input this code in to the input provided on the app
- Tap confirm and you would have successfully synchronized your first bank token.
Soft token
The first bank soft token can be downloaded from the Google playstore, if you are an android user or the app store for iOS users.
To use the first bank soft token, you will need an activation code and a serial number, which can only be gotten from the bank. So you will need to go to a first bank branch, and request for your activation code and serial number, you will then be given a form to fill.
After you fill and submit the form, you will be given your activation code & serial number, which you can input on the app. You will then be given a registration code, which you will give to the first bank staff for them to activate your soft token.
Once you soft token is activated, you will be able to use it offline, all you will need to do is input your 4-digit PIN.
How to generate first bank One-time password (OTP)
To generate one-time password, you will need the phone number you used to register your first bank account.
To generate OTP, you will dial *322*0# from that mobile number and the code will be sent to your phone, you can then input it.

Do I need the hardware token if I have the soft token?
No you do not. Both tokens cannot be used at the same time, if you have one and you want to use another, then you will need to deactivate the previous one.
